Mount St. Mary’s to hold ‘A Night of Jazz’

Mount St. Mary Academy will host the third annual “A Night of Jazz” at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at Banchetti by Rizzo’s, 550 N French Road, Amherst. The show will feature jazz ensembles from Mount St. Mary Academy, Sweet Home High School, Springville Griffith Institute, Orchard Park High School, Canisius High School and St. Francis High School. Art Society showing paintings at Schofield

The monthly art show at Schofield Residence, which continues to showcase the work of local artists from the Kenmore Art Society, is featuring a variety of colorful acrylic paintings by Susan Hohl, who also does photography and framing. Hohl’s artwork is on display until Saturday, Jan. 30. The exhibit is free from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. weekdays and from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. weekends and holidays at 3333 Elmwood Ave., Kenmore.

St. Francis of Assisi to host spaghetti dinner

St. Francis of Assisi Parish will hold its annual spaghetti dinner and theme tray auction from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, in the Early Childhood Center gymnasium, 70 Adam St., Tonawanda. Dinner includes spaghetti with meatballs, fresh bread, salad, beverage and dessert. Tickets are $7 for adults, $4 for children ages 4-10 and free for children age 3 and under. There will also be a large selection of theme trays available for raffle.

Free seminar for SAT, ACT prep set for Feb. 4

All-Pro Tutoring and Test Prep is offering a free one-hour seminar on SAT and ACT testing and college planning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, at Kenmore West High School, 33 Highland Parkway, Tonawanda. Blessed Sacrament plans ‘Soup-er Chili Nite’

St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy’s Soup-er Chili Nite will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, in the Parish Center at Blessed Sacrament Church, 263 Claremont. Admission is $15 per person, or free for children under 12, includes soup, chili, dessert and a beverage, a 50/50 raffle and silent auction. O’Hara to host Mike Randall as Mark Twain

Mike Randall will appear as Mark Twain at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at Cardinal O’Hara High School, 39 O'Hara Road, Tonawanda. The entire school, guests and members of the community are invited to attend. The one-man Mark Twain Stage Production has been entertaining audiences in the United States and Canada since 1972, appearing Off-Broadway at New York City's Little Hippodrome and other venues.
