County Clerk’s Office ends 2013 with surplus

As he concluded his second year in office, Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs closed the books with a nearly $2 million surplus in his office.

Jacobs said the surplus will total more than $1.9 million.

“In the last two years, we have generated more than $4 million in surplus funds, with no increase in the amount of employees at the Clerk Office,” he said.

Jacobs attributes the surplus to his hardworking employees, his campaign to encourage residents to renew their license and registrations locally, and a strong real estate market.
