School supplies drive planned for Aug. 16

A back-to-school supplies drive will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Tonawanda High School, in the parking lot, at 600 Fletcher St.

The event is sponsored by City of Tonawanda Council President Jenna Koch and the Tonawanda Education Association, and the supplies will benefit neighborhood students.

Participants will also have the opportunity to meet the district’s new superintendent, Tim Oldenburg.

Some of the items that are being collected include: backpacks; glue sticks; hand sanitizer; pencils, pens and crayons; dry-erase markers; wipes and tissues; notebooks and folders; colored pencils; and headphones.

According to a prepared statement, any and all school supply items will be accepted and appreciated.
